About > ENUM in Ireland

The evolution of ENUM in Ireland was initiated by ComReg, with support from the Department of Communications, Marine and Natural Resources through the establishment of the Irish ENUM Forum group. Many countries are currently carrying out ENUM trials and Ireland is now the seventh EU country to move fully into commercial operation. The UK will follow suit later this year and North America (i.e. country code 1) in 2008.

The ENUM Forum recommendations included a recommendation that key ENUM processes should be discussed by a Policy Advisory Board (PAB) to be set up in conjunction with ENUM's future commercialisation in Ireland.

The Policy Advisory Board (PAB) is the body responsible for creating and/or reviewing policies in Ireland concerning ENUM and ENUM commercialisation and processes. The range of policies to be reviewed will include security, authentication/validation, registration, service billing to consumers etc. Participation in the Policy Advisory Board is on a voluntary basis.
